Dalang – the wayang puppeteer who either manipulates the wayang kulit puppets and speaks and the words, or narrates a plot for live actors. He is the playwright, producer, director, singer, mystic scholar, and poet who cues the gamelan, philosophizes, jokes, impersonates.
