Customs and Excise Office of Ngurah Rai, Bali, foiled drug smuggling of MDMA or ecstasy type via Post Office package in Renon, Denpasar. “Postal delivery package from Germany in the form of illicit drug ecstasy with a total weight of 57 grams which is received by NSY (initial),” said Head of Regional Office of Directorate General of Customs and Excise Bali, NTB and NTT, Rahmat Subagio in a press conference at Kuta, Bali, on Friday.
From the address card document it was known that the package recipient was someone who has initial as KAS in Kuta. However, after further development with Bali Police, it was found that the package was taken by someone with the initials NSY. According to him, the discomfiture of postal parcel delivery on Monday (10/11) was the eighth since 2014.
Discomfiture of the narcotics smuggling was based on officer’s suspicion from the result of an x-ray scan to a package from the German. “From the results of in-depth examination, the officers found an aluminum pouch containing a clear plastic package that contains white crystals,” he said. On a preliminary test, it was found that the white crystalline drug was a type of MDMA or Ecstasy with a total weight of 57 grams.
Furthermore, the suspect and the evidence were sent to the police for investigation. For this case, the suspect violated the Law on Narcotics and could be punishable by a maximum of death penalty or imprisonment for a minimum of at least five years and a maximum of 20 years or a fine of Rp1 billion or at most Rp10 billion.
Meanwhile, Head II of Ditres of Drug Bali Police, Assistant Commissioner Joni Lay said that the case is not yet confirmed as international syndicate. “We are still conducting further investigation if there is involvement of other actors in this case,” he said. He promised to immediately solve the case so as to reduce the number of drug trafficking on the island.
