Indonesian President Joko Widodo Makes a ‘Transit Stop’ in Bali on his way to the G-20 Summit in Brisbane
Indonesian President Joko Widodo became a transit visitor to his home nation of Indonesia during a whirlwind tour of official visits to China, Myanmar and Australia.
In a prolonged period of official travel and his first overseas junket President Widodo’s visited Beijing, China to participate at the Asia Pacific Economic Community (APEC) Summit November 10-11. 2014; followed by his attendance as the ASEAN Summit in Myanmar November 12-13, 2014; and then headed for Brisbane, Australia to attend the G-20 Summit November 15-16, 2014.
Making the transition from Myanmar to Brisbane caused the Presidential aircraft to overfly Indonesian territory where Widodo and his official entourage paused in Bali for a technical stop. Landing in Bali at 5:30 a.m on Friday, November 14, 2014, the President and Madam Widodo were welcomed by Bali’s Governor Made Mangku Pastika before becoming airborne again at 7:00 am.
President Widodo arrived in Brisbane at 2:50 pm local time where he was greeted by the Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Nadjib Ripphat Kesoema and the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Gregory Moriarty.
