Bali Customs and Excise Foiled Smuggling of 1.178 Grams of Meth

Customs and Excise Office of Ngurah Rai, Bali, managed to fail methamphetamine smuggling attempts through international cargo package at I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport. “This time we busted three packages transferred from abroad to Denpasar via courier service which is on 28 September, 30 September, and 30 October 2014,” said the Head Office of Customs and Excise of Ngurah Rai, Bali, Budi Harjanto in Kuta, Badung Regency on Friday.

He explained the chronology of the discomfiture started on 28 September 2014 on suspicion  of the customs officials on the results of X-ray imaging machines to package from China in the Warehouse of PT. JAS Ngurah Rai Airport International Cargo with the recipient’s name Putu Yoga addresed at Jalan Gunung Sari, Sanur, Denpasar, Bali. The package was divided into two bales contains 50 backpacks and over that suspicion the officers performed a physical examination of the consignments.

Based on the results of a physical examination, one parcel was found hidden in a cavity inside the bag and found contained a clear crystals that is methamphetamine totaling 548 grams. Furthermore, on 30 September 2014, officers continued the investigation and informed that the package with the same sender and receiver will arrive in Bali. After the package arrived, it was found a package containing 586 grams of crystal meth.

The third foil of drug smuggling was on October 2, 2014, against the package from US through the package with the recipient’s name Marten Afrianto at Jalan Pagesangan Indah, Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara. In the package there was found a blue box which contained a game PlayStation 3 DVD (PS3). After in-depth examination there was a clip plastic coated by red plastic contained clear crystals in total of 44 grams which are methamphetamine.

The officer of Customs and Excise has reported this case and coordinate with Bali Police for further processing. Meanwhile, Chief of Reserse Directorate of Bali Police, Assistant Commissioner Joni Lay said that the checking to the shipping destinations had been done but the house was empty. “The address was right, but the house was empty. We will follow up until we uncover this case,” he said. They also will follow up further. Are there other parties involved in the case or not.
