The Denpasar mayoralty office will run political education courses for first-time voters, mostly senior high and vocational school students across the city. The courses will provide the young voters with adequate knowledge of the electoral process, political ethics and the concepts of democracy and societal and cultural issues as well as information on Indonesia’s electoral and political system.
Dewa Gede Rai, head of Denpasar’s public affairs office, said that the course was being offered to 100 participants aged at least 17 years. “This activity is part of the mayoralty’s commitment to help create a responsible, informed and smart younger generation,” said Rai. Denpasar mayoralty collaborated with Udayana University, Bali Police headquarters and other institutions in organizing the training program.
