Bali Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu Bali) has urged the incumbent governor and regents to curb the election campaign banners of gubernatorial candidates that are displayed throughout the island. Panwaslu Bali feared that the campaign banners could trigger politically-charged conflict between supporters.
“The governor and regents should prevent conflict. Banners could trigger disputes between the candidates’ supporters,” chairman of Panwaslu Bali I Made Wena told journalists in Denpasar on Thursday. Panwaslu Bali have received many complaints from the public about the campaign banners but cannot curb the banners because the candidates are not yet officially recognized by the Bali General Elections Committee (KPU).
